What happens to a car that sits all winter?
Batteries drain, tires flatten and seals dry out when a car sits for months, and some cities and HOAs limit how long an inoperable car can stay on a street or driveway. If you've already decided not to fix it, spring is a good time to let it go before it gathers fines or more damage.
A car doesn't need to start or roll to be sold. Our buyer partner buys cars in any condition, and a tow truck can winch a car with flat tires.
What should you check before pickup?
Go through the glove box, trunk and under the seats, take off toll tags and parking permits, and find the title. If the car has been parked behind a fence or in a tight spot, mention it when you accept the offer.
Do more people look to sell an old car in spring?
Yes: from April to June, Google Trends interest in "sell my car" averaged 76.8 against a yearly average of 72.7, and it rose each month, from 73.5 to 80.2.
Searches for "junk car" climb over the same months, from 14.1 in April to 15.4 in June. They were measured in a separate request, where the yearly average is 13.9.
Selling works the same way in every season, and the how it works page walks through each step.
