You can, and for a car in good shape it may be convenient. For a junk or non-running car, though, the trade-in figure is often low because the dealer will scrap it or send it to auction. A separate offer gives you a number to compare.

Do car searches change around Black Friday?
Shopping searches go up and selling searches go down: in November, Google Trends interest in "car deals" averaged 38.9 against a yearly average of 33.4, while "sell my car" averaged 62.9 against 72.7 on its own scale.
The week of Black Friday was the busiest week of the year for "car deals" in every full year of the data, 2022 to 2025, reaching 73 in 2025. Interest in "sell my car" dipped that same week each year.
